Unbedingt – und je konkreter, desto besser. Am hilfreichsten ist eine Liste mit Songs, die auf jeden Fall laufen sollen – und eine mit dem, was auf keinen Fall laufen darf – letzteres gern als Genres oder Künstler statt als einzelne Titel. Den Rest baue ich darum herum und passe ihn im Verlauf des Abends an.Absolutely – and the more specific the better. Most useful is one list of songs that must be played and one of what must never be – the latter ideally as genres or artists rather than individual tracks. I build the rest around them and adapt as the evening goes on.
Können meine Gäste Musikwünsche äussern?Can my guests request songs?
Ja – und ich sammle sie gern – auf Wunsch mit Musikwunschkärtchen. Ehrlich gesagt kommt aber nicht jeder Wunsch dran: An einem vollen Abend liegen mehr Zettel auf dem Pult, als Songs in die Nacht passen. Ein Set, das jeden Wunsch der Reihe nach abarbeitet, ist kein Set mehr, sondern eine Warteschlange. Was passt, wird gespielt – zum Zeitpunkt, an dem es wirkt. Ein Song, der um halb elf die Fläche leeren würde, funktioniert um eins hervorragend.Yes – and I am happy to collect them – with request cards if you like. Honestly though, not every request makes it: on a busy night there are more slips on the booth than songs that fit into the evening. A set that works through every request in order is no longer a set, it is a queue. What fits gets played – at the moment when it works. A song that would empty the floor at half past ten works beautifully at one.
Wie früh sollte ich buchen?How early should I book?
Für Termine zwischen Mai und September möglichst früh. Ausserhalb der Saison geht es oft auch kurzfristig. Frag einfach an, dann sage ich dir, ob das Datum noch frei ist.For dates between May and September as early as possible. Outside the season it often works at short notice. Just ask and I will tell you whether the date is still open.
Wie lange spielst du?How long do you play?
So lange, wie im Vertrag vereinbart – die Endzeit legen wir vorher gemeinsam fest. Wenn die Tanzfläche dann noch voll ist, verlängern wir spontan: Das ist im Vertrag geregelt und wird zum vereinbarten Stundenansatz verrechnet.For as long as agreed in the contract – we set the end time together in advance. If the floor is still full by then, we extend on the spot: that is covered in the contract and billed at the agreed hourly rate.
Unsere Gäste sind zwischen zwanzig und achtzig. Geht das?Our guests are aged twenty to eighty. Does that work?
Das ist bei runden Geburtstagen der Normalfall und ehrlich gesagt der interessanteste Teil der Arbeit. Ich baue den Abend in Blöcken auf, statt einen Kompromiss zu spielen, der niemanden erreicht.That is standard at milestone birthdays and honestly the most interesting part of the job. I build the evening in blocks instead of playing a compromise that reaches nobody.
Wie viele Gäste sind sinnvoll?What guest numbers make sense?
Von zwanzig bis mehreren hundert ist alles möglich. Sag mir die Zahl, dann bringe ich die passende Anlage mit – zu grosse Technik in einem kleinen Raum ist genauso ein Fehler wie zu kleine in einem grossen.From twenty to several hundred, anything works. Tell me the number and I bring the right system – oversized equipment in a small room is as much a mistake as undersized in a large one.
Spielst du auch Schlager oder Volksmusik?Do you play Schlager or folk music?
Das ist nicht mein Repertoire. Wer einen Abend will, der stark in diese Richtung geht, dem empfehle ich gerne jemanden. Einzelne Wünsche sind selbstverständlich kein Problem.That is not my repertoire. If you want an evening built around it, I am happy to recommend someone. Individual requests are of course no issue.
